Susan Bourke is Professor Emerita and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the School of Criminal Justice at the University of Cincinnati. A specialist in juvenile justice systems, she previously worked as juvenile counselor, probation officer, and court administrator in Kentucky's juvenile justice system before transitioning to academia. Bourke serves as Faculty Adviser for both the Criminal Justice Field Placement Program and the Criminal Justice Society.
Her career bridges practical experience in juvenile corrections with academic leadership in criminal justice education. Bourke developed expertise through roles including juvenile counselor in Day Treatment programs and administrator for Kenton County Juvenile Court. She contributes to community-based alternatives to detention through federally funded research on diversion programs.
