Susan Bird

Dr. Susan Bird is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Charles Darwin University (CDU), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Society. She also holds an Adjunct position at CQUniversity. Her research focuses on legal geographies, inclusive space design, and law’s role in addressing food waste through food rescue initiatives. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary scholarship, particularly in legal education and diversity in academia.

Education: PhD in Melbourne's Wildscapes: A Critical Ethnography (2014). Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education, zero hunger, and reduced inequalities.

Research Interests:

Recent publications explore topics like alien citizenship in sci-fi law, constitutional referendums, and cyber-outlaw theories. She co-authored impactful reports on food security in remote communities and stakeholder engagement strategies.

Teaching: Pioneered CDU’s First Nations Pre-Law Enabling Program to improve Indigenous access to legal studies. Supervises postgraduate research and advocates for inclusive pedagogy.
