Susan Beth Rottmann is an Associate Professor in the Anthropology Department at Özyeğin University, Turkey. She holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2012), an M.A. (2006), and a B.A. in Comparative Religion from Cornell University (2001). Her research focuses on migration, belonging, ethics, and transnationalism, particularly in European-Turkish contexts. Key projects include the EU-funded HORIZON 2020 RESPOND initiative (2017–2021) and the TÜBİTAK 1001 grant on Syrian women’s social integration (2022–2025). She has published widely in journals such as Journal of Refugee Studies, Migration Studies, and Space and Culture, and authored In Pursuit of Belonging: Forging an Ethical Life in European-Turkish Spaces (2019).
