Susan Antebi is a Professor of Latin American literature at the University of Toronto, based in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese. She holds a PhD and MA from Harvard University and a BA from Amherst College. Her research focuses on disability studies, corporeality, and Mexican cultural production, with notable works like Embodied Archive: Disability in Post-Revolutionary Mexican Cultural Production (2021) and Carnal Inscriptions (2009). She has received major awards for her scholarship, including the Tobin Siebers Prize and LASA Mexico Section Prize.
Her current research explores eugenic legacies in Mexico and the Americas, and para-abnormal agency in literature and spectacle. She has led administrative roles, including Director of the Latin American Studies Program (2015–2019) and Acting Chair of the Department of Spanish & Portuguese (2020–2021). Her teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses on Mexican literature, cultural production, and disability studies.
