معرفی
Dr. Surya Sujathan is a Researcher at the School of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, The University of Sydney. She holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (2024), with prior degrees from College of Engineering Trivandrum (B.Tech) and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (M.Tech). Her research focuses on environmental geochemistry, groundwater contamination, and sustainable water treatment technologies. She previously worked as a Junior Research Fellow at IIT Delhi, developing biofilm reactors for rural wastewater treatment, and conducted research at Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany, under the DAAD-IIT Scholarship.
Her research interests include geochemical processes in aquifers, reactive transport modeling, microplastic detection in clay-rich systems, and fluoride/uranium contamination mitigation. She has published in leading journals and received the GD Aggarwal Award for innovative environmental engineering research. Current projects emphasize advancing microplastic analysis techniques and predictive modeling of contaminant migration in groundwater systems.
Notable contributions include studies on manganese carbonate's role in contaminant mobility and unified speciation models for uranium prevalence in Indian aquifers. Her work bridges laboratory experiments with field-scale applications to address real-world environmental challenges.
