Dr. Suria Darma Tarigan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Soil and Land Resources, Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Indonesia. He also serves as the Head of the Watershed Management Study Program at IPB.
His research focuses on landscape multifunctionality to optimize local ecosystem services, particularly in oil palm landscapes, using transdisciplinary approaches. Key research questions include understanding the role of landscape heterogeneity and biodiversity (e.g., tree patches, agroforestry, riparian areas) in regulating water flow and production, and how spatial landscape designs can enhance ecosystem services while incorporating stakeholder perceptions.
