Suresh Mishra

Dr. Suresh Mishra is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba's Max Rady College of Medicine, with a cross-appointment in Physiology and Pathophysiology. His laboratory is located in the John Buhler Research Centre where he leads investigations into metabolic and immune disorders.

Research Focus: Dr. Mishra's work centers on sex-specific mechanisms in immunometabolic diseases. His lab studies how adipose tissue and immune functions interact through hormonal signaling, X-chromosome regulation, and mitochondrial dynamics. Key investigations include obesity-linked diabetes/cancer pathogenesis and prohibitin protein's role in sex-dimorphic disease vulnerability. The research aims to develop sex-tailored therapies for metabolic disorders.
