Suresh G. Advani serves as Adjunct Professor at Centrale Nantes since June 2018, following his guest professorship at the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM) beginning September 2017. He concurrently holds a primary position as Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Associate Director of the Center for Composite Materials at the University of Delaware, USA, where he chaired the Mechanical Engineering Department from 2012 to 2017.
His educational background includes a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1987). Research interests span rheology, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer applied to composite manufacturing processes, fuel cell mechanisms, and hydrogen storage, with emphasis on physical/numerical modeling of complex flow phenomena in composites production.
Advani's scientific recognition includes:
- Outstanding Research Award from the American Society of Composites (2015)
With over 300 journal publications and 100+ conference keynote invitations, he serves as North American editor for 'Composites Part A' and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His collaborative work at Centrale Nantes focuses on material variability characterization, process modeling enhancements, and symposium development for the ECCM 19 conference.
