Surajit Bag is a Professor of Supply Chain Management at Excelia Business School in La Rochelle, France. He previously held associate professor positions at EMLV Business School in Paris (2023-2024), Institute of Management Technology in Ghaziabad, India (2022-2023), and Rabat Business School in Rabat, Morocco (2021-2022).
Dr. Bag received his PhD in Operations Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa in 2021, and an earlier PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, India in 2015. He also holds an MBA from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, India (2009). Before moving to academia, he accumulated eleven years of industry experience in leadership positions at prominent manufacturing companies.
With over 10,000 citations according to Google Scholar, Dr. Bag's research primarily focuses on sustainable supply chain management. His work spans global supply chain management, supply chain strategy, and supply management, with particular emphasis on how digital technologies can enhance supply chain sustainability and resilience. His publications reveal a strong focus on the intersection of sustainability, digital transformation, and supply chain management, examining topics such as green hydrogen supply chains, circular economy practices, AI applications in supply chains, and climate-responsive supply chain strategies.

Dr. Bag has supervised five MPhil students at the University of Johannesburg and currently co-supervises doctoral students from India, South Africa, and New Zealand. He has evaluated twelve doctoral and DBA theses across multiple countries. As an Associate Editor for several leading journals, he has curated special issues on supply chain management topics. His research group focuses on sustainable supply chain innovation, with particular attention to digital technologies and circular economy practices, and his collaborations span multiple continents, reflecting the global nature of supply chain challenges and opportunities.
