Surajeet Chakravarty is a Professor of Economics at the University of Exeter, where he also serves as the Business Economics Programme Director. His office is located at Streatham Court, Rennes Drive, Exeter EX4 4PU, UK.
Research Interests: Professor Chakravarty’s work centers on contract theory, mechanism design, and banking. A particular emphasis is placed on situations where contractual outcomes are non-verifiable and on allocation problems that cannot use prices. His scholarship straddles economics and law, covering contract law, tort law, corporate law, and issues of bank fragility driven by informational frictions.
Currently, his active research agenda includes:
- Non-price allocation mechanisms for scarce goods.
- Dispute-resolution mechanisms under non-verifiable contract outcomes.
- Tort law analysis under ambiguity.
- Informational problems and fragility in banking.
