Supun Samarakoon is Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Sam Houston State University. He received his B.S. in Physical Science from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka (2010), M.S. in Mathematics from Sam Houston State University (2014), and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Texas A&M University (2021).
His research focuses on geometric group theory, particularly groups acting on trees and groups of intermediate growth. Samarakoon also investigates applications of group dynamics in holomorphic dynamics, exploring connections between abstract algebra and complex systems.
