Dr. Suparna Chatterjee serves as Associate Professor with a joint appointment in the History Department and Williams College of Business at Xavier University, while also co-directing The Center for International Business. Her academic work spans the Philosophy, Politics, and the Public (PPP) honors program, Economics, Sustainability, and Society (ECOS) program, and International Business program, creating unique bridges between historical analysis and contemporary global business challenges.
Her research critically examines the politics of globalization through lenses of sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and bottom-of-pyramid economics, with particular focus on nationalism's impact on marginalized populations. Current work investigates African students' navigation of "foreignness" under Hindutva nationalist resurgence in India, revealing how historical identity politics manifests in educational spaces. This interdisciplinary approach connects business ethics with postcolonial studies to analyze power dynamics in emerging economies.
Dr. Chatterjee actively secures research funding, currently leading the Jesuit Fellowship-supported project "To be Foreign: The Case of African Students in India." Her collaborative framework encourages student involvement in field research examining globalization's human dimensions, with emphasis on ethical business practices in multicultural contexts.
