Sunshine Hillygus is a Professor of Political Science at Duke University, where she serves as the Director of the Duke Initiative on Survey Methodology and Co-Director of the Polarization Lab. She holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University and previously served as the Frederick S. Danziger Associate Professor of Government at Harvard University, where she founded the Program on Survey Research.
Her research focuses on American political behavior, campaigns and elections, survey methodology, public opinion, and the intersection of information technology and politics. Hillygus has published extensively on how emerging technologies transform political communication, voter decision-making, and civic engagement.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on political behavior in digital spaces, including studies on social media incivility, survey methodology innovation, and polarization dynamics.
