Sunrita Dhar-Bhattacharjee

Sunrita Dhar-Bhattacharjee is an Associate Professor at the School of Management, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, under the Faculty of Business and Law. She is a Principal Fellow of Advance HE and previously served as Deputy Head of School. Her work spans interdisciplinary social science research with a focus on sustainable development, gender equity, and global policy.

Her research explores gender and work, access to education and technology, food security, and energy equity in the Global South. Using critical social science and participatory methods, she investigates how transnational organisations, policy, and governance impact sustainable development. She has led and co-led multiple funded projects addressing UN Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10.

Her recent publications highlight a strong trend in gendered experiences in the workplace, especially in India, and the intersection of gender with access to technology and energy during crises like the pandemic. The research spans disciplines including gender studies, organisational behaviour, development studies, and energy policy, with a consistent focus on equity, inclusion, and participatory research.

She has secured significant research funding, including as Principal Investigator (PI) for a £10K GCRF project on gender and access to education/technology in India, a £9,640 QR internal grant on gender inequality, and as Co-PI on a £150K GCRF project on gender equity and energy access in the Global South. She supervises PhD and professional doctorate students in areas such as women and work, gender and education, and transnational organisations. She is an academic member of CIPD (MCIPD) and an External Panellist for Athena Swan, contributing to gender equity in higher education and research.
