Maria Iancu

Maria Iancu is a Research Fellow at Anglia Ruskin University's Faculty of Business and Law, School of Management, affiliated with the Centre for Research on the Organisation of Work and Consumption (CROWC) and recognized as a Fellow of Advance HE.

Her research employs critical social sciences and ethnographic methods to investigate the future of work, sustainable consumption, and digital transformation of organisations. Specialising in gig economy dynamics, co-working spaces, and gendered workplace experiences, she examines how technology reshapes management practices across Global North/South contexts. Her work bridges theoretical rigor with practical stakeholder engagement in government and industry sectors.

Recent publications demonstrate interdisciplinary innovation, addressing ethical challenges in remote qualitative methodologies and mental health caregiving impacts through systematic review approaches.

Maria supervises PhD and professional doctorate students on gig economy, gender in labour, and workplace ethnography topics. She previously led the Blesma-funded 'Caring and Coping 2' project at ARU's Veterans & Families Institute and actively collaborates with construction industry and local government stakeholders to realise innovation benefits.

She contributes to CROWC's research agenda while maintaining ties with the Veterans & Families Institute for Military Social Research (VFI), focusing on technology-organisation interfaces and gender equity in evolving work landscapes.
