Dr. Sung-Ju Kim is an Associate Professor at NC State University's School of Social Work and affiliated faculty at the School of Public and International Affairs. He previously held roles as an Assistant Professor at Monmouth University, adjunct faculty at Rutgers and Indiana University, and professional social work experience in South Korea. His research focuses on nonprofit management, philanthropy, and quantitative methods, with notable contributions to global generosity studies and Asian nonprofit education. He leads initiatives like the Korean Nonprofit Philanthropy Researchers Network (KNPRN) and collaborates internationally through the Global Generosity Research group. His teaching spans research methods, program evaluation, and social policy.
Education includes a Ph.D. from Indiana University, MSSA from Case Western Reserve, and MA from the Catholic University of Korea. He advises on nonprofit education directories and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles. Professional roles include editorial board memberships and leadership in organizations such as the Korean American Social Work Educators Association (KASWEA).
