Kim Starkey is a Lecturer in Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and serves as President and CEO of King Philanthropies. Her work focuses on strategic leadership in nonprofits, global poverty reduction, and social innovation. She holds an MBA from Stanford, a master’s in economics for development from the University of Oxford, and a master’s in international relations from the London School of Economics.

Her research interests include strategy, impact evaluation, board governance, and organizational effectiveness in social sector organizations. She co-authored Engine of Impact: Essentials of Strategic Leadership in the Nonprofit Sector, emphasizing leadership in philanthropy and nonprofits.
Kim actively advises philanthropies and nonprofits, sits on the steering committee of Stronger Foundations for Nutrition, and serves on advisory boards for Last Mile Health and the Henry R. Kravis Prize in Nonprofit Leadership. She previously worked at McKinsey & Company and the Stanford Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society.

Her teaching includes courses on impact leadership, social ventures, and strategic philanthropy, such as Impact: Strategic Leadership of Social Ventures and Social Innovation Practicum.
