April Ann Chou is a Lecturer in Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she teaches courses such as GSBGEN 519: Strategic Philanthropy and Impact Investing. She holds an MBA (2001) and MA in Education (2001) from Stanford University, and an AB from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs (1996).
Her professional career spans leadership roles in philanthropy, education, and social impact. She currently serves as a Managing Director at Jasper Ridge Partners, focusing on philanthropic advisory services. Previously, she was a founding executive at the OneTen Coalition (addressing Black talent career opportunities), Interim Head of Education at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and Chief Growth Officer at KIPP Northern California Public Schools. Her earlier roles included Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund and consultant at McKinsey & Company.
Chou’s research and practice emphasize strategic philanthropy, education equity, and organizational leadership in social sectors. She has received notable awards for her service, including the 2018 Leader of the Year award and Princeton’s Harold Willis Dodds Award. Her work bridges nonprofit strategy, impact investing, and systemic change in education and workforce development.
