Suneeti Jog

Suneeti Jog is an Associate Research Scientist in Wetland Plant Ecology at the Illinois Natural History Survey, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She holds affiliate faculty positions in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Science, the Program in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology, and the Center for Global Studies within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

With 25 years of field experience across eastern, midwestern, and south-central United States wetlands, grasslands, and forests, Dr. Jog specializes in plant taxonomy and wetland ecology. Her research focuses on developing and refining vegetation assessment tools, particularly Floristic Quality Assessment methods for wetland bioassessment. She has taught diverse courses including Plant Taxonomy, Dendrology, Wetland Ecology, and UIUC's Study Abroad program on Conservation, Climate, and Culture of India.

Analysis of her publication record reveals consistent focus on improving wetland assessment methodologies, with particular emphasis on Floristic Quality Index applications, limitations of current bioassessment approaches, and indicator species identification. Her work demonstrates increasing sophistication in addressing methodological challenges in ecological assessment, with recent publications tackling fundamental conceptual issues like the 'full species list' fallacy in conservation metrics.
