Dr. Sumitrajit (Sumit) Dhar is a Professor and holds the Hugh Knowles Chair in Hearing Sciences at the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders, School of Communication, Northwestern University. He specializes in hearing sciences, focusing on otoacoustic emissions and hearing healthcare delivery systems.
- Education: PhD in Hearing Science with a minor in Neuroscience from Purdue University (2007), MS in Audiology from Utah State University (2006), BSc in Audiology from the University of Bombay (2005).
Research Interests: His work centers on understanding the physiology and biophysics of inner ear sounds (otoacoustic emissions) to detect early ear malfunctions. He also investigates barriers to hearing healthcare access and develops tools to improve affordability and accessibility.
