Dr. Sumit Malik is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) of Marketing at the University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS), joining in February 2024. Previously, he taught at Monash University (Malaysia) and served as an adjunct faculty in Spain and South Korea. He holds a PhD in Marketing (Cum Laude) from IE Business School, an International MBA from RSM Erasmus University, and a Master of Business Economics from the University of Delhi.
His research focuses on three core areas: sensory marketing, sustainable food consumption, and prosocial behavior. Key projects include studying unconscious effects of sensory cues (e.g., visual/haptic stimuli), consumer intuitions in food choices, and triggers for donation intentions. His work bridges academic insights with societal impact, informed by 14 years of industry experience in research analytics and market research leadership.
Teaching roles include module coordination for MKIB365 Digital Marketing and teaching responsibilities in ULMS894 Consumer Insight Research and MKIB363 Marketing Strategy. Professional activities include peer reviewing for the Journal of Advertising.
Publications span topics like minimalism’s impact on food choices, nonprofit donation strategies, and gender stereotypes in advertising. His research integrates evolutionary psychology, spatial perception, and behavioral economics to address contemporary consumer challenges.
