Sujata Pradhan

Sujata Pradhan, PhD, PT is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she also serves as Graduate Program Coordinator. She chairs the Doctor of Physical Therapy program's admissions committee and co-chairs the Rehabilitation Equity, Diversity and Inclusion council, demonstrating significant leadership within her department.

• MS (Physical Therapy) and PhD (Rehabilitation Science) from the University of Pittsburgh
• Postdoctoral training in Advanced Rehabilitation Research at the University of Washington (2010)

Dr. Pradhan's research focuses on applying technological advances specifically for Parkinson disease rehabilitation. Her work centers on wearable sensors, exergaming, and virtual reality interventions to develop objective measures and design effective rehabilitation protocols. She investigates how these technologies can be translated into clinical practice through knowledge translation initiatives.

Analysis of her recent publications reveals a consistent focus on technology-enabled rehabilitation approaches, particularly for neurological conditions. Her work spans virtual reality applications for gait disorders in Parkinson's disease, objective activity monitoring using commercial devices, and knowledge translation strategies for implementing technology in clinical practice. A significant portion of her recent work also addresses physical activity patterns and outcomes following traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Pradhan actively mentors students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and serves on dissertation committees for PhD students in Rehabilitation Science. Her research has received funding from multiple sources including the UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Royalty Research Fund, Institute of Translational Health Sciences, Foundation for Physical Therapy Research, and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).

She leads the Technology for Rehabilitation Advances in Neurologic Disease (TRAIN) lab, which serves as the hub for her research activities focused on developing and testing technology-based interventions for neurological rehabilitation.
