Dr. Sui-Seng Tee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His lab focuses on the intersection of cancer signaling pathways and metabolism, pioneering metabolic imaging technologies like hyperpolarized magnetic resonance spectroscopy (HP-MRS) for real-time, non-invasive metabolic flux analysis.
- PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge (2011)
- Postdoctoral training at Stanford University (2014)
- Research Associate at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (2018)
Research interests include fructose metabolism in hepatocellular carcinoma, development of HP-MRS reporter genes, and metabolic imaging for cancer diagnosis and treatment monitoring. His work explores how targeted therapeutics affect tumor metabolism and aims to design novel imaging probes for drug response assessment.
Recent grants include NIH R21 awards from the National Institute on Aging ($1,346,893 total) for longitudinal imaging studies on maternal exercise effects and synucleinopathy. Dr. Tee actively recruits postdoctoral researchers and laboratory assistants for his team at the Center for Advanced Imaging Research (CAIR).
