Suheyla Bilgen is a Researcher at the Laboratory of the Physics of the Two Infinities - Irène Joliot Curie (IJCLab), affiliated with University of Paris-Saclay. She specializes in dynamic vacuum measurement and materials physics for particle accelerators.
- PhD in Particle Physics and High Energy Physics cluster (2016-2020)
- Teaches crystallography at École polytechnique and vacuum technologies for accelerators via IN2P3 programs
Her research focuses on optimizing particle accelerator operations through experimental characterization of secondary particle phenomena (ions, electrons, synchrotron radiation) and development of the DYVACS simulation code. She pioneered the first experimental measurement of stray ions in the LHC, revealing their disproportionate impact on beam control compared to electrons.
Key awards include:
- 2022 Madeleine Lecoq Prize (French Academy of Sciences)
- 2020 PHENIICS doctoral school thesis prize
- 2019 SFP best poster award
As member of the MAVERICS team, she now tests materials for next-generation accelerators and conducts preliminary studies for the 100km circumference Future Circular Collider (FCC) project at CERN.
