Suhad Daher-Nashif is a Lecturer in Sociology and Anthropology of Health at Keele University's School of Medicine, combining clinical and academic roles in education and research. She holds a PhD in Sociology & Anthropology (2012) and has a background in occupational therapy. Her work focuses on integrating humanities/social sciences into medical curricula, with research emphasizing intersectionality between health sciences, culture, politics, and bureaucracy among marginalized groups, particularly in mental health, postmortem practices, and medical education contexts.
Teaching responsibilities include sociocultural aspects of health for medical undergraduates, global health for postgraduates, and qualitative research methods across programs. As Director of the Global Healthcare Leadership (GHL) program since 2023, she oversees interdisciplinary training in leadership and global health challenges.
Research spans topics such as dementia caregiving in Arab-Muslim communities, mental health stigma, Palestinian women's rights under occupation, and pandemic policy analysis. Over 50 peer-reviewed publications reflect her interdisciplinary approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods to address health inequities and cultural dimensions of healthcare.
Key areas of contribution include medical humanities pedagogy, colonial medicine critiques, and health policy in conflict zones. Current projects explore postmortem practices' cultural dimensions and gendered impacts of healthcare systems in the Middle East.
