Annemarie Samuels is an Associate Professor at the Leiden Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology within Leiden University's Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. Her research focuses on medical anthropology, disaster studies, HIV/AIDS, and palliative care, with extensive fieldwork in Indonesia. She leads the ERC-funded project 'Globalizing Palliative Care,' exploring end-of-life care practices globally. Her work bridges ethnographic methods with policy analysis, addressing issues like data gaps in digital governance and cultural dimensions of healthcare.
