Sue Shemilt

Sue Shemilt is a Lecturer in Forensic Science at the Lennard-Jones School of Chemical and Physical Sciences, Keele University. She holds a First Class BSc in Chemistry and Forensic Science from Keele and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry.

Her research spans analytical chemistry and chemical ecology, focusing on cuticular hydrocarbon analysis and their forensic applications. She also investigates chemiluminescent reagents and imaging techniques for latent blood detection.

Recent publications highlight her expertise in cuticular hydrocarbon biosynthesis, forensic entomology, and blood stain detection across entomology, forensic science, and analytical chemistry domains.

Teaching responsibilities include modules on forensic skills, spectroscopy, and dissertation supervision. She is actively involved in admissions for Forensic Science programs.
