معرفی
Falko Drijfhout is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science at Keele University, UK, affiliated with the Lennard-Jones School of Chemical and Physical Sciences. He obtained his MSc (1996) and PhD (2001) in Analytical Chemistry/Chemical Ecology from Wageningen University, followed by postdoctoral research at Cornell University (2001–2003) and Keele University (2003–2005). His research focuses on chemical ecology, forensic entomology, and analytical chemistry techniques like GC-MS and multivariate analysis. He is part of the Chemical Ecology group and the Centre for Applied Entomology and Parasitology (CAEP).
Teaching responsibilities include spectroscopy, advanced chemical analysis, forensic science modules, and research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research interests span insect semiochemicals, forensic aging of insects, pesticide impacts on bees, and hydrocarbon-based species identification. Key techniques include untargeted metabonomics and cuticular hydrocarbon profiling for forensic applications.
Falko has published extensively on blowfly hydrocarbons, ant recognition cues, and forensic entomology. Collaborations include work on thrips pheromones and ant chemical ecology. His labs focus on integrating analytical chemistry with ecological and forensic challenges.
