Professor Sue Doe is a faculty member at Colorado State University (CSU) serving as Professor in the English and University Composition Program, Executive Director of The Institute for Learning and Teaching, and Director of the Center for the Study of Academic Labor. She holds a PhD in Educational Leadership from CSU, with prior degrees from Knox College (BA) and the University of New Hampshire (MA).
Her research focuses on academic labor dynamics, writing across the curriculum, and student-veteran transitions in post-9/11 higher education. She has authored/co-authored influential books such as Generation Vet: Composition, Veterans, and the Post-9/11 University (2014) and Concepts and Choices: Meeting the Challenges in Higher Education (2008). Her work bridges pedagogical innovation with institutional advocacy, emphasizing faculty empowerment and equitable educational practices.
Publications reflect her interdisciplinary approach, spanning journals like College English, Writing Program Administration, and Teaching of Psychology. Recent scholarship addresses contingent faculty movements and leadership roles in fostering inclusive academic environments. She has led initiatives such as the Faculty Council (2020–2023) and developed programs like the GTA preparation curriculum for writing instructors.
Her advising and grants work centers graduate student labor advocacy and curriculum development. The Center for the Study of Academic Labor (CSAL), which she directs, serves as a critical institutional advocate for faculty rights and working conditions.
