Sudipta Roy is a Research Fellow at Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and a Senior Researcher at the World Faiths Development Dialogue (WFDD). He directs the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS), a consortium promoting U.S.–Bangladesh education diplomacy. Roy earned a Ph.D. in international and comparative education policy studies from Indiana University Bloomington, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from the University of Dhaka.
Roy’s research focuses on the interplay of formal/informal education, religion, and international development in South/Southeast Asia. His work spans social cohesion, faith-based education, freedom of religion or belief, and strategic religious engagement.
- Awards: Fulbright fellowship, Mellon Innovating International Research and Teaching grant, School of Education Fellowship at IU, AIBS resident fellowship, Santosh Jain Memorial award, and multiple travel grants.
Prior to WFDD, Roy taught education foundations and international education courses at Colby College, Indiana University Bloomington, and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
