Subhrendu Pattanayak is the Oak Foundation Distinguished Professor of Environmental and Energy Policy at Duke University, with joint appointments in the School of Public Policy and Environmental Natural Sciences Division. His research examines environmental behaviors in low-income tropical countries, focusing on forest ecosystems, environmental health, and household energy transitions. He collaborates globally with NGOs and governments.
Education includes a PhD from Duke University, an MS from Purdue University, and a BA from St. Stephen's College, Delhi.
Recent publications analyze energy reliability valuation, gendered health technology adoption, and ESG risks in mining. His work integrates econometric methods with field data to inform policy.
