Dr. Subhayan Roy Moulik is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) within the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, where he has worked since 2023 after completing a postdoctoral position at UC Berkeley.
His educational background includes:
- 2016-2020: DPhil in Computer Science (Clarendon Scholar) at the University of Oxford, Keble College
- 2015-2016: Pre-doctoral studies in Physical Sciences at IISER Kolkata
Dr. Moulik's research centers on mathematical quantum theory, quantum algorithms, and computational mathematics. He develops algebraic models of quantum dynamical processes using applied analysis and geometry to emulate physical phenomena and predict computational responses, bridging theoretical computer science with quantum physics for applications in quantum information foundations.
He has mentored undergraduate researchers including Justin Chen and Calum McCartney (Cambridge, Summer 2024) on computational complexity metrics and butterfly velocity measurement on quantum computers, alongside Sydney Koutrouba (Berkeley, Summer 2023) and Leo Tyrpak (Oxford, Summer 2022) on Hamiltonian simulation and lattice-based quantum algorithms.
As a member of Cambridge's Centre for Quantum Information and Foundations, he contributes to collaborative research in quantum computation while maintaining contact via roymoulik@damtp.cam.ac.uk (Room F1.20) and sharing lecture notes on Quantum Algorithms for X via Google Drive.
