Subhasis Mohanty, PhD, is a Research Scientist in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding immune responses to vaccines, particularly influenza, and the impact of aging on immunity. He holds a PhD from the University of Konstanz (2003), and earlier degrees from Utkal University, India.
Dr. Mohanty’s work explores B and T cell biology, vaccine efficacy in aging populations, and inflammatory mechanisms in diseases like inclusion body myositis. He collaborates with leading researchers on projects such as high-throughput single-cell profiling and photo-cross-linking techniques to enhance antibody-antigen interaction studies. His recent studies include analyzing platelet responses to vaccines and identifying age-related signatures in immune cell function.
Key areas of investigation include the role of peripheral helper T cells in viral infections, the molecular basis of vaccine responses in older adults, and translational research on sarcoidosis and multiorgan disease. He has contributed to studies on severe COVID-19 pathogenesis and the immunological consequences of SARS-CoV-2 variants.
