Subhabrata Dev

Subhabrata Dev is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), part of the College of Engineering. His expertise lies in environmental engineering, with a focus on water quality, bioremediation, and critical minerals recovery. Before joining UAA, he held roles including Research Assistant Professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) and postdoctoral fellowships at UAF and Hanyang University (South Korea).

His education includes a Ph.D. in Mining and Environmental Engineering, a Master's in Biotechnology, and a Bachelor's in Microbiology. His research explores climate change impacts on water systems, recovery of critical minerals from mining waste, and emerging contaminant remediation, including microplastics and wastewater treatment. His work often addresses challenges in cold regions and remote communities.

Key research contributions include studies on microbial bioremediation of acid mine drainage, photocatalytic membrane systems for micropollutant removal, and energy efficiency in water infrastructure. He has presented at conferences such as the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP) and published in journals like ACS ES&T Engineering and Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts. His interdisciplinary approach integrates environmental science, engineering, and policy to address sustainability challenges.
