معرفی
Prof. Suayb Üstün is a Professor of Plant Cell Biology at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Ruhr University Bochum, leading the Plant Cell Biology research group. His research focuses on autophagy’s role in plant-microbe interactions, supported by an ERC Starting Grant (2021). He previously led an Emmy Noether group at the University of Tübingen (2018) and conducted postdoctoral research at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (2016–2018) and the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (2013–2015).
Education:
- PhD in Cell and Molecular Neurobiology (2013), Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg
- Studies in Cell and Molecular Neurobiology, same institution
Research Interests: Autophagy mechanisms in plants, plant-microbe communication, cellular recycling processes, and their implications for plant immunity and stress responses. His work bridges molecular biology, cell biology, and plant physiology to decode how autophagy aids plants in microbial interactions.
Awards:
- ERC Starting Grant (2021)
- Emmy Noether Research Group Leadership (2018)
Labs/Teams: Heads the Plant Cell Biology research group at Ruhr University Bochum, focusing on autophagy’s role in plant biology.
