Suat İlhan

Suat İlhan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Istanbul Technical University. His academic career spans over two decades, with a focus on high voltage engineering and electrical insulation systems. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2005.

His research explores corona discharge detection, silicone rubber composites, and fault location algorithms in power systems. Recent projects include non-contact voltage detectors and deep learning applications for material hydrophobicity analysis. He has supervised multiple graduate theses on topics like fault current limiting and transient overvoltage analysis.

Scientific awards include the 2019 Eleco Best Paper Award, 2013 Young Researcher Award from ISH, and the 2005 Siemens Excellence Award. He leads research projects on high voltage systems and is actively involved in the Outdoor Insulation Technical Committee of IEEE.
