Stéphane Gaubert

Stéphane Gaubert is a Senior Research Scientist (Directeur de recherche CE) at INRIA, leading the Tropical research team, a joint initiative with the Centre de Mathématiques Appliquées (CMAP) at École Polytechnique. He also holds a part-time professorship in the Department of Applied Mathematics at École Polytechnique. His research focuses on applied mathematics, particularly max-plus algebra, optimization, control theory, and game theory, with applications to discrete event systems and nonlinear Perron-Frobenius theory.

• He co-heads the Master 2 in Optimization, jointly organized with University Paris-Saclay and Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
• He coordinates the ANR project XHilbertField and has led previous ANR projects Democrite and MALTHY.

His work includes contributions to tropical convexity, policy iteration algorithms, and max-plus spectral theory. He has organized workshops such as the 2018 Dynamical Aspects in Variational Analysis and delivered lectures at international conferences, including the SIAM Conference on Control and Applications (2009) and a course on Max-Plus Algebra at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2008).
