Stine Nygård is a Researcher at the Department of Media and Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Oslo. She specializes in digital and physical aspects of sexuality, with particular focus on image-based sexual abuse and body-related social issues.
Her research interests span digital sexual behavior including sexting and image-based sexual assault, social issues at the intersection of body, gender and sexuality, and socio-ecological perspectives on health, stress, coping, and behavior change. She employs both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies in her work.
Nygård's recent publications examine mechanisms of harm in image-based sexual abuse and adolescent sexting behaviors. Her research shows strong trends in digital sexual health, with particular emphasis on victimization experiences and societal responses to non-consensual image sharing.

She teaches courses in sexuality and sexual health, methods in preventive work, and applied health psychology while supervising bachelor's and master's students. Nygård co-founded and co-leads the Body x Identity x Society (BodIS Lab) research group and is affiliated with the Norwegian Research Center for Sexual Health (CENSE).
