Dr. Stewart White is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine, University of Glasgow, with additional responsibilities as Honorary Curator of the National Nest Reference Collection at the Hunterian Museum. His research focuses on ecology, environmental change, and educational research, particularly in ornithology, conservation biology, and wildlife management. White has supervised graduate students including Krystin Damask and Michael McCaskill on projects ranging from mesocarnivore ecology to urban badger behavior.
His research explores urban ecological adaptations, thermal biology in birds, and conservation strategies for threatened species like water voles. Notable projects include investigations into phenological asynchrony in avian communities and the development of floating estuarine wetlands in Glasgow. White has received grants from Glasgow Natural History Society and Glasgow City Council for vole conservation and ecological surveys.
White co-leads educational initiatives promoting equality and diversity in life sciences, resulting in a co-created teaching resource with students. His expeditions have contributed significantly to natural history documentation, particularly in Ecuador's biodiversity hotspots.
