Dr. Steven Sherwood is an Adjunct Professor at Texas Christian University, where he has taught in the Master of Liberal Arts program since 2007. He previously served as Director of the TCU Center for Writing before retiring from full-time work. Sherwood holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Montana and a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from TCU.
His research focuses on creative writing across fiction and nonfiction genres, with specialized interests in survival narratives, nature writing, autobiographical forms, and the pedagogical applications of humor. His dissertation centered on humor's rhetorical functions in educational contexts.
Sherwood has published an article in the Writing Center Journal (2021) reflecting on writing center practices. Current projects include a novel and short story exploring coaching experiences and literary mysteries.
