Steven Sexton

Steven Sexton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), which he joined in 2018. His professional affiliations include:

His research focuses on Native American literature, particularly Indigenous literary nationalism, Indigenous national literatures, and U.S. settler colonial studies. He examines how Indigenous peoples maintain sovereignty and distinct identities as resistance to settler colonialism, and how these themes are expressed through literature regarding individual identity, community belonging, and nationhood.

Sexton's scholarly contributions have appeared in publications including "Across Cultures/Across Borders: Canadian Aboriginal and Native American Literatures" and the "Encyclopedia of American Indian Literature".
