He previously served as an Assistant/Associate Professor at Washington State University (2014-2023) and completed postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (2009-2014). He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (2003-2008).
Research Interests:
- Genome dynamics: mechanisms of mutation and chromosome alteration in human disease
- Roles of APOBEC cytidine deaminases in cancer mutagenesis
- Genome-wide mapping of DNA lesions and mutagenesis
- UV and oxidation-induced mutagenesis in melanoma
Recent Trends: His publications focus on APOBEC3A/B activity in cancer, atypical UV photoproducts, and DNA repair pathway interactions. Key subfields include mutation clusters, chromatin structure effects, and replication strand polarity.
