Daniel A Harki, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Minnesota, is a leading researcher in cancer biology and molecular virology. Affiliated with the Institute for Molecular Virology, his work focuses on developing novel protein degraders for RET-positive cancers, targeting APOBEC mutagenesis in breast cancer, and creating antiviral compounds for RNA viruses.
- Current projects include NIH-funded studies on Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer and Cancer Center Support
- Active member of multidisciplinary collaborations across the University of Minnesota's medical and molecular research divisions
His research portfolio spans biochemistry, enzymology, and chemical biology, with recent publications examining:
- Allosteric binding site targeting in NF-κB signaling
- Structure-activity relationships in Aurora kinase A degraders
- Sugar conformation effects on APOBEC3A/3B activity
- SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein inhibition
- West Nile/Zika virus nucleoside prodrugs
Key collaborations include co-investigator roles in 20 major projects and principal investigator positions on APOBEC Mutagenesis grants. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through cancer research and antiviral development.
