Steven Pecchia-Bekkum is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in the Department of Film & Media Arts at the University of Utah, holding this position since August 2013. He previously served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the same department from 2006 to 2013. His teaching portfolio includes courses in traditional animation production, sound for film, film production, screenwriting, and introductory film studies. He also teaches at Weber State University.

- B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Translating Literature into Screenplays, Metropolitan State University (1997)
- A.S. in Film and Video Production, Minneapolis Community and Technical College (1991)
Research & Professional Experience: Pecchia-Bekkum specializes in film production, sound design, and post-production. His work Walking in the Valley of the Gods has screened at festivals such as the Anchorage International Film Festival and Hollywood DV Film Festival. He is a sound re-recording mixer for films like To Be or Not to Be and Backstroke. He has collaborated with the Sundance Film Festival as a sound crew member and video camera operator and has led screenwriting workshops at Locomotion Film Festival and Spyhop.
