معرفی
Steven Lentz, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Internal Medicine specializing in Hematology, Oncology, and Blood and Marrow Transplantation at the University of Iowa. He holds the Henry Hamilton Chair in Hematology and serves as Director of the University of Iowa Medical Scientist Training Program. His affiliations include the Cardiovascular Research Center and Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Education:
- MD, Washington University, St. Louis
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Washington University, St. Louis
- Internal Medicine Residency, Barnes Hospital
- Hematology-Oncology Fellowship, Washington University
Dr. Lentz's research focuses on hematologic disorders, coagulation mechanisms, and vascular biology. His investigations span thrombosis, hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, platelet signaling, stroke pathophysiology, and genetic determinants of blood disorders. Research integrates molecular techniques with clinical translation.
His recent publications (2015-2016) demonstrate a focus on thrombosis mechanisms, hemophilia therapeutics, stroke pathology, and genetic blood disorders. Key themes include clinical trial designs for coagulation therapies, molecular regulation of platelet function, biomarker validation, and animal models of thrombo-inflammatory disease.
Awards and Honors:
- Henry Hamilton Chair in Hematology
As Director of the Medical Scientist Training Program, Dr. Lentz oversees physician-scientist education and mentorship. He leads the Lentz Laboratory, conducting NIH-funded research on thrombosis and hemostasis. Collaborations span multiple divisions including Cardiovascular Medicine, Neurology, and Genetics.
