Steven J. Zeil is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science within the College of Sciences at Old Dominion University. He has maintained an active teaching and research career for several decades, with evidence of courses scheduled through Summer 2025.

His research projects include Extract (metadata extraction from large document collections), AlgAE (an algorithm animation engine for computer science instruction), and work on reliability testing methodologies including Reliability Growth During Non-Representative Testing, Knowledge-Based Refinement During Testing, and Perturbation Testing. His work bridges theoretical computer science with practical applications in software engineering and education.
