Steven Hurd

Steven Hurd serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Interior Design in the Department of Art & Design at the University of Central Arkansas, part of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. A native of Central Arkansas and 1985 University of Arkansas–Fayetteville architecture graduate, he recently retired after thirty years as president of Hurd Long Architects.

Hurd specializes in Architecture, Interior Design, Historic Preservation, and Fine Woodworking, with notable contributions to artisan toy design. His Cathedral Blocks and Castle Blocks are exhibited internationally at institutions including the Castle de Saint Fargeau (France) and Saint Canice’s Cathedral (Ireland). The Arkansas Museum of Fine Art holds his Crossword Cubed Puzzle Toy in its permanent collection, and his works are distributed through museum stores such as Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
