Steven Hackbarth is an Associate Professor of English at Wisconsin Lutheran College. He holds a B.A. in English and Spanish from Wisconsin Lutheran College, an M.A. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.A. in Comparative Literature and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Ph.D. in English from Marquette University.
His research focuses on Medieval European literature, American literature, crosscurrents in twentieth-century literature, magical realism, linguistics, dramatic literature, and rhetoric. He has conducted independent studies on translation and Old English.
He has presented scholarly papers on Chaucer, Gower, and the Pearl-poet, and published biographical research in the Journal of the Lutheran Historical Conference.
Service includes academic committee work at WLC, church outreach support, and board membership for the Dodge-Jefferson Counties Genealogical Society. Professional memberships include the Modern Language Association and Medieval Academy of America.
