Steven Fazzari is the Bert A. and Jeanette L. Lynch Distinguished Professor of Economics at Washington University in St. Louis, with a joint appointment in Sociology. He holds leadership roles as Resident Fellow at the Weidenbaum Center and previously served as Chair of the Department of Economics (1999–2005) and inaugural Chair of the Department of Sociology (2014–2019). His research focuses on macroeconomic-financial linkages, Keynesian theory, and the determinants of business investment. He has authored over 5,000 cited works in Google Scholar.
Education: PhD in Economics from Stanford University. Notable administrative roles include Academic Planning Committee member (2006–2015), Weidenbaum Center Director (2020–2022), and recipient of the 2019 Arts & Sciences Academic Leadership Award.
Research emphasizes financial constraints on corporate investment, R&D spending dynamics, and policy responses to economic crises like the Great Recession. His work bridges theoretical Keynesian frameworks with empirical financial data analysis.
