Steven Chaikelson is a Professor at Columbia University School of the Arts and Barnard College, specializing in Theatre Management & Producing. He co-founded the T Fellowship for Creative Producers and established the Front Row Productions Fellowship in 2021. His dual JD/MFA degree from Columbia uniquely bridges legal and theatrical expertise.
- Education: First graduate of Columbia’s dual degree JD/MFA program; member of the New York State Bar.
His research focuses on the intersection of theatre law, production management, and creative industries. He co-authored Theatre Law: Cases and Materials, the first law school textbook on theatre law.
His producing credits include award-winning Broadway, Off-Broadway, and international productions such as The Band’s Visit (10 Tony Awards), Elaine Stritch at Liberty (Tony Award), and Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish (Drama Desk Award). He founded Snug Harbor Productions, which has managed major festivals like Season of Cambodia (2013).
